The game’s greatest player = the game’s biggest flopper?

LeBron James’ basketball talents are a joy to behold. He is having one of the finest individual seasons in NBA history. He is by far the greatest player in the league. The gap between him and his closest peers is crater-like (Kevin Durant dreams of making teammates better and affecting the game defensively the way LeBron does; Chris Paul would like to make it past the second round).

It is terribly unfortunate, then, that James so often resorts to the most vile and disgusting of basketball tactics: flopping.

Along with a select few fellow offenders—Paul, Blake Griffin, Dwyane Wade—he is turning the dramatic exaggeration and simulation of contact into an art form. And he is being rewarded for it by the officials.

Witness this latest disgusting display:

  1. Not a flow, there was definitely contact. Shoulder in the neck area (and a slight shove). The contact was a bit exagerated, but that’s not a flop.
